AUSTRALIAN LAWMAKER SEEKS TO BAN R. KELLY
NEW YORK (AP) — An Australian lawmaker wants to keep R. Kelly from bringing his tour there. Legislator Shayne Neumann says in a statement the Immigration Minister should deny Kelly’s visa because of his character and potential risk to the community. Kelly recently tweeted he would tour Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. He’s since deleted that tweet. Australia denied entry to Chris Brown in 2015 on character grounds. Australia’s Home Affairs Department will not comment on individual cases but says there are strong legal provisions to block entry to anyone “found not to be of good character.” Kelly has been accused of sexually and physically abusing women and girls. He denies the charges.
