Vermont IDs 4 road corridors as focus of safety campaigns
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The state of Vermont says four sections of roadways from Burlington to Bennington County will be the focus of a public awareness campaign designed to keep people safer on the highways.
Officials decided to focus on certain areas after noticing high traffic volumes, high vehicle speeds or high crash numbers.
The campaign runs now through the end of August.
The roadways include Interstate 89 in Chittenden County and Interstate 91 in the White River Junction area. The campaign will also focus on Vermont Route 22A between Bridport and Vergennes and U.S. Route 7 in the Bennington-Pownal area.
Highway Safety Office Manager Bruce Nyquist says the goal is to make all motorists aware of areas that require extra attention.
