VALLEY SANTA: Aunt Asks For Help To Provide Niece With Christmas Gift
Ten-year-old Chloe has not had a stable home life.
Both of her parents are drug addicts. Her father has been in and out of jail and her mother was not fit to raise her, according to a letter her Aunt Wendy sent to Valley Santa.
Chloe lived with her grandparents until she was 5 years old. Her Aunt Wendy and Uncle Joe often took her in on the weekends and other times that she wasn’t in school. They got close to her and decided to adopt her.
They started the adoption process about three years ago and Wendy said it took until now to pay for the lawyer and other costs associated with the process.
Wendy is out of work getting ready to have carpal tunnel surgery and her husband Joe is out of work as a result of a back injury.
“I have been trying to pay home bills along with lawyer and adoption bills and it is not going leave much of anything else for her,” Wendy wrote.
Wendy asked for Valley Santa’s help to provide a Christmas gift for Chloe.
“She does know that money is tight right now with paying all this stuff and making sure there is food on the table and clothes on her back,” Wendy wrote.
Wendy said Chloe knows that “Santa might not be coming this year because of it.” She hopes Valley Santa will be her Santa and bring her a gift.
Chloe has attention deficit disorder and thinks it’s her fault that she is being adopted, she said.
“It is hard to explain but she does understand and she tries to give us money out of her piggy bank to help out,” Wendy wrote. “I don’t know what else to say. I am about to cry again because I don’t want her to think it is her fault that we needed to spend the money elsewhere.”
