NEW YORK (AP) _ Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market.

NYSE

Federated Department Stores Inc., down 22 cents at $47.51

The retailer saw its profits decline 26 percent in the fourth quarter, but results still beat Wall Street expectations.

Allied Waste Industries, down 42 cents at $16.18

The trash hauler beat fourth-quarter earnings estimates by a penny a share.

RadioShack Corp., up $2.09 at $42.94; Blockbuster Inc., up 1 cent at $45.12

RadioShack will pay Blockbuster a fee to operate small sales areas inside approximately 130 video stores this year. The companies hope to expand the project to 5,000 stores eventually with both sharing the revenue.

NASDAQ

Altera Corp., down 88 cents at $22.50

The semiconductor manufacturer reduced its first-quarter outlook, citing weak orders and other problems.

Amazon.com, down $1.38 at $10.38

The online retailer denied market rumors that it was planning to file for bankruptcy.

JDS Uniphase, down $2 at $25.81

The telecommunications company is cutting 10 percent of its work force, about 3,000 jobs.
