Duval To Make Return at Memorial

May 28, 1999

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) _ David Duval, the world’s top-ranked golfer, will return to the PGA Tour next week at the Memorial Tournament.

Duval hasn’t played since missing the cut three weeks ago at the Compaq Classic of New Orleans. Duval, who has four tournament wins this year, said he needed a mental break and took the last two tour events off.

The break will end Thursday in the opening round at Muirfield Village Golf Club. International Management Group of Cleveland, which represents Duval, confirmed Duval’s participation Friday.

The tournament will also feature Columbus native Jack Nicklaus, who designed the Muirfield course and has won the tournament twice in its 23-year history.

Fred Couples, who won the tournament last year, will try to become the first player to successfully defend the Memorial title.
