LOWELL “RAY” ADKINS

LOWELL “RAY” ADKINS, 78, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He was born February 29, 1940, at East Lynn, W.Va., son of the late Julian and Ada Pearl Doss Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Adkins and Clinton Adkins. He retired from Mountaineer Gas and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Cooper Adkins; one daughter, Heather (David) Oder of Proctorville, Ohio; two sons, Davy (Jessie) Peters of Proctorville, Ohio and Tim Adkins of Huntington, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Sheldon, Cassie, Kiley, Emily and Ambria (Travis); two great-grandchildren, Ruby and River; one sister, Onealee (McKinley) Sanders of Rittman, Ohio; four brothers, Claude (Zella) Adkins of Ashland, Ky., Julian (Ruth) Adkins of Cleveland, Ohio, Charlie (Carla) Adkins of Kentucky and Rick (Vanessa) Adkins of Huntington, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Proctorville VFW Post #6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
