Amboy High School has a new principal
AMBOY – Amboy High School has a new principal with a familiar face.
Janet Crownhart will fill the vacancy left by Joshua Nichols, who was promoted last month to replace Superintendent Jeff Thake, who took a superintendent position in North Dakota.
Crownhart, an AHS math teacher for 12 years and dean of students for 7, “will do a good job” because she has a positive relationship with the students, Nichols said.
“I’m super excited to take over a position that I’ve been working at for years,” Crownhart said.
Crownhart, a 1998 Sterling High School graduate, was a math teacher at Dixon High School for the 2003-04 school year, and at Forreston High School the year before that.
She earned her bachelor’s from Augustana College in Rock Island in 2002 and her master’s in education leadership from Aurora University in Aurora in 2013.
Her parents are Ron and Karen Nehring, 74 and 76, of Sterling. Her brother, John Nehring, lives in Westland, Michigan.
Crownhart, 38 and her husband, Mark, 40, live in Amboy. He’s a registered nurse at KSB Hospital and a member of the Army National Guard.
They’re also new parents – their son was born Wednesday. The Crownharts like to run 5K’s, hike and kayak.
