Rios, Norman in China Tennis Final
SHANGHAI, China (AP) _ Second-seeded Magnus Norman of Sweden battled back after dropping the first seven games to defeat defending champion Michael Chang 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 Saturday and advance to the finals of the Heineken Open.
Top-seeded Marcelo Rios of Chile continued to dominate the $350,000 tournament, handily defeating Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden 6-4, 6-1 to sweep into Sunday’s final against Norman. It will be their first matchup.
``I have been winning easy and that’s the important thing. I feel good,″ Rios said after the match, delayed two hours by rain from Typhoon Dan.
Sixth-seeded American Chang, who has struggled this year, tired as the match play went on, dropping key points to Norman.
For Chang, the crowd favorite at the Shanghai Open, the loss puts in jeopardy his streak of winning at least one title every year since 1988.
