Downstairs at The Esquire Tavern celebrating its birthday in style
Downstairs at The Esquire Tavern is turning 2 this week, and to celebrate, the basement bar has put together a special beverage pairing menu that will be available today through Saturday.
The pairings include: a simple bratwurst paired with pilsner beer ($15), octopus carpaccio with riesling ($23), croque madame with amontillado wine ($21), beef tartare with palo cortado wine ($22), gougéres with champagne ($26) and pork belly roulade with cider ($19). Two half glasses of each beverage come with the paired meals.
Patrons can also get a dozen oysters paired with a carafe of classic martini, sherry wine or a selection of champagnes priced from $50 to $90.
Downstairs, which can be accessed at the River Walk level, opened in September 2016 and was named one of the Top 10 bars in the 2018 Express-News’ Top 100 Dining & Drinks guide.
