Hartford union joins threatened supermarket walkout
A second Connecticut union of Stop and Shop workers voted Sunday to go on strike if the company does not produce an acceptable contract during ongoing negotiations.
Local 919 of the United Food and Commercial Workers represents workers in the Hartford area, with more than 30,000 workers in five unions now having authorized strikes if leaders deem the sides are at an impasse.
The Westport-based Local 371 of UFCW voted last week in favor of a strike, with negotiations slated to resume Wednesday and Thursday.
