Columbia 79, Yale 69

NEW YORK (AP) _ Columbia ended an 18-game Ivy League losing streak by beating Yale 79-69 Friday night behind a career-high 29 points from junior Boris Piskun.

Piskun scored 11 of the Lions’ first 14 points as Columbia (4-17, 1-8) built a 33-27 halftime lead. Columbia’s last Ivy win was Jan. 29, 1994, when the Lions beat Yale 77-58.

Yale (8-12, 4-5) led 44-42 with 12:33 remaining. Piskin then triggered an 11-1 run with a stuff. Tony Doyle followed with a jumper that put the Lions ahead 46-44.

Doyle finished with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Fred Johnson added 14 points for the Lions, who broke a 10-game losing streak overall.

Gabe Hunterdon led the Bulldogs with 19 points. Bernie Colson scored 12 and Jim Kawahito 10 for Yale.
