City council approves ambulance purchase
NORFOLK - The Norfolk City Council approved the purchase of a new ambulance for Norfolk Fire and Rescue.
During Monday’s meeting, Fire Chief Scott Cordes told the council members a ten member committee spent a year going through all the logistics in looking for a new ambulance.
“We fully vetted the specifications after the bid review and opening. This is the lowest qualifying bid. It comes under budget and meets the recommendation of the committee. We did tour the factory where this ambulance will be built, checked references of those that have purchased them previously and find them to be an excellent company we want to do business with.”
Cordes said the ambulance is from Fyr-Tek in the amount of $256,756.
The council voted unanimously to approve the purchase.
