Sparks Get OT Win Over Storm 77-74
SEATTLE (AP) _ Mwadie Mabika scored five of her 19 points in overtime and Lisa Leslie had 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Sparks rallied to beat the Seattle Storm 77-74 Friday night.
Los Angeles needed a 13-3 run to send the game into overtime. It was the fourth-straight road victory for the two-time defending champions.
Nikki Teasley added 19 for the Sparks (4-0), including a 3-pointer with 4.1 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
Sue Bird scored 22 points to lead Seattle (0-3), which led 65-55 with three minutes to go before Leslie’s post play keyed the comeback.
Mabika took over in overtime hitting two free throws and a quick jumper. The Sparks made their free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Lauren Jackson had 15 points and eight rebounds for Seattle and Sandy Brondello scored 11. Adia Barnes added 10 for the Storm.
Los Angeles shot 28-for-69 (40.6 percent) from the field while holding the Storm to 33.3 percent shooting (24-for-72) .
Notes: The Storm’s Jung Sun-Min missed the game with a sprained right ankle ... Seattle is 1-3 in home openers... Seattle won the season series last year 2-1 but Los Angeles swept the Storm 2-0 in the first round of the playoffs.
