Middle school students help improve traffic safety
RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — A group of Vermont middle school students is doing their part to improve traffic safety.
WPTZ-TV reports students at Christ the King helped install temporary markers in Rutland Tuesday to promote safety. The students persuaded city officials earlier this summer to repaint the sidewalk and add crossing signs on Killington Ave.
The new features make curb extensions more visible to drivers and help school traffic. Students installed a new bike rack as well.
City officials will collect data on traffic project to determine if permanent changes need to be made.
