LITTLE ROCK MAYOR

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Voters are casting ballots in an election that could result in Little Rock’s first popularly elected black mayor , six decades after Arkansas’ capital city was the center of a school desegregation fight. Frank Scott and Baker Kurrus are in Tuesday’s runoff for the nonpartisan, open seat. If Scott wins, he would be the first African-American elected mayor of Little Rock, where divisions linger long after nine black students were escorted past an angry white mob into Little Rock Central High School in 1957. PAWNSHOP SLAYING

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Police say two men have been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a pawnshop owner in central Arkansas. Pine Bluff Police Department Chief Kelvin Sergeant announced Tuesday that two 21-year-olds suspects have been arrested for the Nov. 12 slaying of Wise Buck Pawn Shop owner Brandon McHan. Sergeant says Daryl Strickland and Rodney Henry are believed to be responsible for killing McHan during an apparent robbery attempt . 250 words.

FBC--COACHES-ALL-SEC TEAM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Southeastern Conference champion Alabama has a league-high 12 players on the all-conference team selected by SEC coaches. Georgia had seven players selected on the team. Missouri and South Carolina each had five all-SEC selections. Coaches weren’t permitted to vote for their own players. The team was announced Tuesday, one day after the release of the Associated Press all-SEC team that was selected by a 28-member media panel. SENT: 130 words, with photo.
