NEW YORK (AP) _ Fans of Staind sometimes take the rock band’s dark lyrics very seriously.
Singer Aaron Lewis recalled one particularly attached fan who approached him at a concert in Ypsilanti, Mich., in April.
``A kid came up to me in the parking lot who had a full-blown portrait of me tattooed on his arm,″ Lewis said in an interview for the July 19 issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
The depiction was so detailed, it included a watch Lewis always wears, which was a gift from fellow rocker Kid Rock. The young fan also had tattoos of the word ``Tormented,″ which was the title of the New England-based band’s 1996 debut, and ``Everything falls apart,″ a line from a Staind song.
``It’s really hard for me to talk to fans now,″ Lewis said. ``It feels like they’re teetering on every word I say.″
Staind’s latest release, ``Break the Cycle,″ sold more than 700,000 copies in its first week. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard album chart for three weeks last month but since has fallen to No. 4.
