WASHINGTON (AP) _ The State Department said Wednesday it has received information that Nicaragua trained up to 60 Colombian M-19 guerrillas last year and also has supplied them with weaponry.

''There is every reason to believe that the M-19 has put the training and combat experience gained in Nicaragua to use in Colombia,'' the department said in a written response to press questions.

The remarks expanded on comments made by Secretary of State George P. Shultz when he discussed the links between Nicaragua and the Colombian insurgents on Monday during an Organization of American States meeting in Colombia.

The State Department said M-19 maintains an office in Managua that it uses to arrange arms purchases and deliveries.
