ALLIANT ENERGY-COAL — With construction on a $700 million natural gas plant halfway done, Alliant Energy has shut down one of its largest coal-fired generators. The 49-year-old facility in Wisconsin is the third coal plant that Alliant has shut down since 2015. The Madison-based utility that serves about 960,000 electric customers in Wisconsin and Iowa is working to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 80 percent by 2050. SENT: 250 words.

UNDATED — Top Iowa State running back David Montgomery is day-to-day after suffering an upper arm injury late in last weekend’s loss at TCU. Coach Matt Campbell said an MRI and x-rays were negative and that Montgomery was working out with the team on Sunday with what he described as a deep bruise.
