Point of Interest: Traffic still a concern for proposed Chick-fil-A site

August 7, 2018

66 High Ridge Road: A vacant bank at the busy intersection of High Ridge and Long Ridge roads remains vacant after the months-long quest by the landowner to open a Chick-fil-A franchise on the site appears to be on its last legs. The developer this month was granted another delay on a public hearing before the Zoning Board as it attempts to change the city’s mind on traffic concerns. On Monday night, the developer pressed the city to hire an independent consultant to study the area’s traffic. However, Stamford officials said the hiring — while paid for by the developer, but hired by the city — would amount to an appeal of the Traffic Bureau’s decision to nix the proposal citing traffic concerns over its drive-through. The next hearing is slated for Sept. 24.
