ASHLAND — Blast off into a summer of reading with this year’s summer reading program at Boyd County Public Library. “A University of Stories — Endless Possibilities” registration continues at all three branches and online at https://thebookplace. beanstack.org/. A kick-off party is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Ashland Central Park with festivities including inflatables, Kona Ice, music and much more. Also, teens who meet the requirements will be invited to spend the night at the library (Kyova branch) Thursday, July 25, during a Teen Lock-In. Activities will include games, movies and food.

All three branches will host free weekly fun and educational space-themed programs as part of the summer reading program where participants will record their reading time for prizes. Reading logs can be presented at the library and prizes picked up anytime. Participants do not need to wait for programs to claim their rewards.

Pictures in the Park also will include space-themed movies under the stars as part of the summer reading program. “Space Jam” can be seen June 8 and “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” on July 13. Movies begin at dusk at the Ashland Central Park Bandstand with rain location at Crabbe Elementary gymnasium.

The mission of Boyd County Public Library is to provide quality resources and access to information for the community. The library has locations in Ashland (1740 Central Ave.), Catlettsburg (2704 Louisa St.) and at the Kyova Mall. For more information, visit www.thebookplace.org.
