A kick-off party is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Ashland Central Park with festivities including inflatables, Kona Ice, music and much more. Also, teens who meet the requirements will be invited to spend the night at the library (Kyova branch) Thursday, July 25, during a Teen Lock-In. Activities will include games, movies and food.
All three branches will host free weekly fun and educational space-themed programs as part of the summer reading program where participants will record their reading time for prizes. Reading logs can be presented at the library and prizes picked up anytime. Participants do not need to wait for programs to claim their rewards.
Pictures in the Park also will include space-themed movies under the stars as part of the summer reading program. “Space Jam” can be seen June 8 and “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” on July 13. Movies begin at dusk at the Ashland Central Park Bandstand with rain location at Crabbe Elementary gymnasium.
