ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont man accused of firing shots during a road rage incident has pleaded not guilty.

WCAX-TV reports 38-year-old Jason Dion, of Winooski, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Franklin County Court to multiple charges including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Police say Dion shot at another man's car after passing him on Interstate 89 in Milton Wednesday afternoon. He was arrested in St. Albans following a police chase.

No one was hurt.

Police say they found a partially empty case of beer and an orange needle cap in Dion's car. According to investigators, Dion had symptoms of an overdose.

Dion's lawyer says his client is a U.S. Navy veteran who won't get the help he needs in prison.

A judge ordered Dion held in jail pending a mental health evaluation.
