Sheriff: Deputies shoot knife-wielding man who killed woman
TAMARAC, Fla. (AP) — Sheriff’s officials say a man who killed his ex-girlfriend in South Florida was fatally shot by deputies responding to a domestic violence call.
Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright says the incident happened Wednesday morning in a Tamarac neighborhood.
Coleman-Wright says deputies encountered a knife-wielding man when they arrived at the home near Fort Lauderdale and “deadly force was used.”
She says the woman was also pronounced dead at the scene. She didn’t say how the woman was killed or provide their names. She said the woman lived at the home with her children.
The sheriff’s office will investigate the woman’s death while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates the deputy-involved shooting.
