Danbury Palace hosts Oscar-nominated Short Films marathon

The Palace Danbury will be screening all 15 Oscar-nominated Short Films on Sunday, Feb. 17, so film buffs can watch the full slate of nominees in one marathon day.

The showcase begins at 1 p.m., with the fanciful world of Animation that includes nominees “Bao,” “Late Afternoon,” “Animal Behaviour,” “Weekends” and “One Small Step.”

At 3 p.m., the Live Action shorts will feature five notably diverse films from around the world, including “Madre,” from Spain; “Fauve,” from Canada; “Marguerite,” from Canada; “Detainme,” from Ireland and “Skin,” from the USA.

At 6 p.m., the Documentaries begin and feature “Black Sheep” “End Game,” “Lifeboat,” “A Night at the Garden” and “Period. End of Sentence.”

Moviesgoers also are invited to guess the winners, as they can pick up a ballot in the lobby and check off their favorite film. All those who correctly predict the Academy Award winners (announced on Feb. 24) will be entered into a drawing for future tickets to The Palace.
