Maine legislator win Patriot’s Day race
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A state lawmaker has won the 84th Boys and Girls Club Patriot’s Day 5-mile road race.
Louie Luchini, a Democrat from Ellsworth, won in a time of 24 minutes, 38 seconds, nearly a minute ahead of second-place finisher Chris Harmon of Scarborough.
The Maine Sunday Telegram reported that Meredith Freimer Anderson of Portland won the women’s title for the second straight year, in a time of 31:14.
What’s billed as the oldest road race in Maine raises money to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs Alumni Association scholarships. About 430 people ran this year.
Patriot’s Day is a state holiday observed Monday in Maine and Massachusetts.
