Residents concerned about noise from planned turnpike work

October 5, 2018

MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) — Residents in New Hampshire say they are concerned about noise levels that could impact their lives during planned expansion work on the Everett Turnpike.

Most were in agreement over the turnpike’s expansion at a public meeting Wednesday night in Merrimack. WMUR-TV reports the New Hampshire Department of Transportation plans to add a third lane and 10-foot shoulder to the side.

Officials say they also plan to pave over the grass median and replace it with concrete.

Residents in attendance asked for sound barriers during construction, worrying sound would get worse during construction.

Work is expected to begin in 2021 and to last through 2025.
