VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) _ Chris Artis scored 15 points and Antanas Vilcinskas added 14 as Valparaiso jumped out to 19-point halftime lead and cruised to a 72-55 victory over Buffalo Wednesday.

The game was tied 8-8 with 13:42 remaining in the half when Bob Jenkins made a layup that put the Crusaders (11-2) ahead for good. A 14-0 spurt over more than 4 1/2 minutes stretched Valparaiso’s lead to 30-13.

Bryce Drew’s jumper 23 seconds before halftime put Valparaiso up 37-18.

The Crusaders made only 39 percent of their field goal attempts during the half, and hit just 45 percent from the free throw line, but Buffalo’s shooting was even worse _ 30 percent from both the field and the line.

Drew, the Crusaders’ leading scorer, was held to 13 points on 4-of-13 shooting for the game.

Valparaiso opened the second half by reaching its largest lead, 46-22, with 15:55 left in the game. Buffalo (6-6) narrowed the gap to 10 four times, but got no closer.

Rasaun Young and Mike Martino led Buffalo with 15 points apiece. Robert Harris added 12.
