NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) _ Brian Huggett of Wales birdied the final hole Saturday and won the Windsor Classic, the opening event of the European PGA Seniors tour, by a single stroke.

Huggett birdied the par-4 hole with an approach shot across a lake that spun to within 8 feet of the pin, giving him a par 72. He finished the 54-hole event with a 209.

Antonio Garrido of Spain, who went into the final round with a one-stroke lead over Huggett and two others, faltered in gusty winds and finished with a 74 that left him a stroke behind the winner.

MIKI, Japan (AP) _ Satoshi Higashi birdied three of the first four holes Saturday en route to a 69 and took a 3-shot lead after three rounds of the Descente Classic Munsing Wear Cup. He has a 54-hole score of 209.

Yoshimi Niizeki shot a 71, and Katsuyoshi Tomori, also of Japan, turned in a 72 to tie at 212.

American Todd Hamilton, winner of the Japan PGA tour’s season opener, the Token Corporation Cup, was at 217 after a 71.

Another American, defending champion Brian Watts, was at 219 after a 74.

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) _ Australian Tony Wehbee won the vacant WBF junior featherweight title Saturday by taking a split decision over Fahsang Por Thawatchai of Thailand.

Thailand’s Fahlan Sakkririn held onto his WBF flyweight title by taking a split decision over South African Zohle Mbityi.

The match marked Fahlan’s first defense since he won the title last year from Kasimir Tchlakov of Bulgaria.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) _ Defending champion Michael Doohan of Australia captured the pole position for Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix motorcycle race, which he has won twice.

Doohan’s clocking Friday of 1 minute, 25.059 held up as the best qualifying time through Saturday’s runs around the 2.178-mile Shah Alam track.

He rides a Honda.

LONDON (AP) _ Chris Sutton and Alan Shearer scored to give first-place Blackburn a 2-1 victory at Everton in the English Premier League.

Sutton’s goal, his 21st of the season, came 16 seconds into the game _ the fastest goal in the league this season. Shearer’s goal was his 34th of the season, best in the league.

The victory increased Blackburn’s lead to 6 points over second-place Manchester United, which hosts Leeds on Sunday. Blackburn has 79 points to United’s 73. Both have seven games remaining.

MILAN, Italy (AP) _ Paul Tergat of Kenya on Saturday won the Milan half-marathon, known as the Stramilano, in 59 minutes, 56 seconds.

Another Kenyan, Shem Kororia, finished 47 seconds behind and Paul Yego was third.
