October 10, 2018

CHELMSFORD -- State police identified the two motorists killed in a wrong-way crash on Route 3 during the early-morning hours on Monday as 21-year-old Noah Martin, of Hudson, and 42-year-old Rebecca Savoie, of Nashua.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Tuesday’s press release.

Police stated in an earlier release they received “numerous reports” of the 2014 Nissan Altima traveling at speeds greater than 100 mph south in the northbound lane on Route 3 at around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Roughly five minutes later, police received reports of a head-on crash involving the Nissan and a Dodge Avenger on Route 3 near exit 32 in Chelmsford.

Emergency crews found two overturned cars at the scene with Savoie trapped in the Nissan and the 21-year-old Martin trapped inside the Dodge.

Chelmsford Fire Chief Gary Ryan said first-responders used the Jaws of Life to remove both people from their vehicles.

Martin was taken to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Savoie was pronounced dead at the scene.
