Cortland business leads school supply drive
CORTLAND – Residents and businesses are collecting school supplies for Cortland Elementary School students and teachers until Aug. 11.
Kori Rempfer and Mark Pietrowski, owners of Belle and Herbie’s Vintage Store, are organizing the school supply drive this summer after leading a similar drive for students in 2017. The event is to help teachers who buy extra supplies from their own paychecks and to help students who may not be able to get all of the required school supplies, according to a news release.
Donation suggestions include washable markers, 24 packs of crayons, spiral one-subject wide ruled notebooks, large glue sticks, backpacks and headphones to be used with Google Chromebooks.
Donation collection sites include Belle and Herbie’s, 16 W. Benson Ave.; Cortland Library, 63 S. Somonauk Road; Cortland Town Hall, 59 S. Somonauk Road; Dough Brothers Pizza, 20 W. Benson Ave.; Hair Knowledge University, 18 W. Benson Ave.; Resource Bank, 10 W. North Ave.; and Sam’s Restaurant, 33 W. North Ave.
