Wilton accident caused when van crossed centerline
WILTON, Maine (AP) — Police say an accident last week in Wilton that took the life of a Lewiston woman and injured four was caused when a minivan crossed the centerline.
Police on Monday said a Chrysler Town and Country van driven by 79-year-old Richard Harvey crossed the centerline on U.S. Route 2 on Friday and collided head-on with an SUV driven by 61-year-old Claudette Hutchins.
Hutchins died en route to the hospital. Her two passengers, including a 16-year-old girl, were hospitalized.
Harvey and his passenger were also hospitalized.
Sgt. Chad Abbot tells the Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/1cjMDwT ) investigators are still trying to determine why the van crossed into the other lane. There was no word on charges.
