September 12, 2000

CHICAGO (AP) _ Home plate umpire Jerry Crawford had to leave Monday night’s game between the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers after one inning with tightness in his right hamstring.

Crawford motioned to White Sox trainer Herm Schneider after the bottom of the first and then left the field.

The game was delayed 12 minutes while umpire Paul Emmel changed gear to move from second base to home plate. Rich Rieker stayed at first base and Chris Guccione at third.
