PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) _ Kerry Jameson scored with two minutes left Sunday, leading Trinidad past Guatemala 2-1 and into a four-point lead over the United States in World Cup qualifying.

Trinidad, 3-1-3, has nine points in the double-round robin qualifying with one one match left. The United States, 2-1-1, plays at Trinidad on Nov. 19. The U.S. team plays El Salvador on Sept. 17, Guatemala on Oct. 8 and El Salvador on Nov. 5.

Costa Rica, 5-2-1, has completed play with 11 points and is virtually assured of advancing to the World Cup for the first time ever. The top two teams in the North and Central American and Carribean region qualify.

Guatemala, 1-4, took the lead in the sixth minute when Julio Rodas picked up a clear by Trinidad’s defense and beat Trinidad goalkeeper Micheal Maurice.

Philbert Jones tied it four minutes later, taking a pass from Jameson at the penalty spot. Trinidad went ahead when Russell Latepy cleared the ball to Jameson, who beat Guatemala goalkeeper Ricardo Jerez with a right-footed shot.

Jameson had scored Trinidad’s goal in its 1-0 victory over Guatemala two weeks ago.

Guatemala was eliminated from qualifying with its fourth consecutive loss. El Salvador, 0-3-1, is last in the five-nation group.
