Wake County school leaders are working out plans to reshuffle students for the next school year.

The school board is gathering feedback from the community before making a final decision, and parents have a chance to sound off Thursday evening.

There are parents on both sides: some who are OK with the plans and others who don’t like what they’re hearing at these meetings.

Thursday’s meeting is at 6:30 PM at Hortons Creek Elementary Schoolon O’Kelly Chapel Road in Cary.

Some parents previously brought up worries about proximity, calendar changes and the emotional impact of shifting their kids around.

Wake school leaders said they need to move students around to fill four new schools and address overcrowding.

The school system has only released one of four drafts for reassignment.

The plan would take effect in the 2019-2020 school year.

Tonight’s meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at Hortons Creek Elementary.

The board is set to make a final decision in November.

Additional informational meetings will be held this month.
