Christmas cards can get a special stamp from the Holy Land

JERUSALEM (AP) _ Those who want their holiday greeting cards delivered with a twist can send them to Nazareth, the city of Jesus’ youth, for a unique postmark.

Cards will be delivered by air mail bearing a special postage stamp and a gold sticker reading ``Via Nazareth.″

``People will get excited to get something so unusual,″ said Michael Kosofsky of the Israeli Postal Authority.

The greeting card project began in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, during the early 1990s. The Israeli Postal Authority moved the project to Nazareth in 1995 when Israel turned over control of Bethlehem to the Palestinians.

A minimum of 10 addressed but unstamped cards should be sent in a large envelope before Dec 10. to: Nazareth Post Office, Box 777, Nazareth, Israel 16100. Each card costs 60 cents to mail.
