Man Accused of Killing Transvestite
WATERTOWN, Mass. (AP) _ A man who took someone he thought was a woman home from a bar allegedly strangled his date after learning she was really a he.
William Palmer, a 34-year-old computer programmer, pleaded innocent Monday to murder and was ordered held without bail.
Police on Monday discovered the body of 23-year-old Roman Pickett in a bedroom at Palmer’s home. Pickett, who went by the name Chanel, was wearing jeans and a woman’s top, and police also found a curly, long-haired wig.
Palmer had met Pickett near Boston’s Combat Zone _ the city’s adult entertainment district _ and apparently learned the victim’s secret in his bedroom, authorities said. Prosecutors would not say whether the two had sex.
