Vermont nuke plant to test emergency sirens
VERNON, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant is going to be testing its emergency sirens in three states.
Officials at the Vernon plant say that at noon on Saturday, Nov. 1, 37 sirens within the 10-mile emergency operation zone of the Vermont plant will be sounded in in Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The three-minute siren testing is being conducted by the public safety agencies in the three states and are part of Federal Emergency Management Agency regulations to ensure the effectiveness of the public notification system.
