Big Bump in Pay for Big Gronk
Rob Gronkowski is going to get a substantial bump in pay that has been in the works for quite some time.
The Patriots have reworked the tight end’s contract, per agent Drew Rosenhaus’ Instagram account.
The numbers? He can add $4.3 million to his contract this year.
The way it’ll work, Gronkowski will get $1 million added in per-game bonuses, and $3.3 million in incentives. That will hike the maximum value of his contract to $13.050 million. So if he hits those incentives, much like last year when they reworked his deal in similar fashion, he’ll be the highest paid tight end.
The Patriots also used incentives to sweeten Tom Brady’s deal this year.
According to OvertheCap.com , it would vault him over Jimmy Graham ($10 million) and Travis Kelce ($9.36 million) and Jordan Reed ($9.35 million) in what he could make this year.
Gronkowski was asked Tuesday if he hoped to have something done before the season started.
“It is what it is,” he replied. “That’s not really my focus. I’ve got a long season ahead, and (I’m) just trying to focus on what I need to really do, and just let everything else play out.”
