Burger King opens in Beaver Dam
Beaver Dam no longer has to suffer from a lack of Whoppers.
The new Burger King opened on Monday on Frances Lane near a Highway 151 exit. Beaver Dam has not had a Burger King in more than a decade. The previous Burger King was on Park Avenue before being demolished.
“It was exciting,” said Mike Goldade, the local franchise’s director of operations. He was at the restaurant Monday.
“We’re ready to get this started. I’m familiar with massive days of sales,” he said. “The community has been extremely supportive. We’ve have a very large amount of applications coming in from the Beaver Dam area and Dodge County.”
The Beaver Dam Burger King will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday. The nearest Burger King is in Columbus.
Many of the employees have trained at Burger Kings in the area for the past few weeks. There are still open jobs at the new store.
“We’re always looking for additional bodies,” Goldade said. He said that historically about 10 percent of employees at a new restaurant decide to leave after the first week.
The Burger King will offer all of the corporate deals.
There was a ribbon-cutting on Monday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the Burger King with local officials in attendance including Mayor Becky Glewen and Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt. The store was busy throughout the day, with long lines at the drive-thru and in the store.
The new restaurant also features the updated architectural designs, artwork and menu screen displays.
The new Burger King is owned by CAVE Enterprises based in the Chicago area. Cave Enterprises owns more than 120 restaurants.
