Lightning, Islanders Issue Trade
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) _ The Tampa Bay Lightning traded forward Alexander Kharitonov and defenseman Adrian Aucoin to the New York Islanders on Friday in exchange for defenseman Mathieu Biron and a 2002 second-round draft pick.
Kharitonov, a third-round pick last year, had seven goals and 15 assists in 66 games with Tampa Bay last season. Aucoin, acquired from Vancouver in February, had one goal and 11 assists in 26 games with the Lightning.
The 21-year-old Biron recorded one assist in 14 games with the Islanders last season. He was taken in the first round of the 1998 draft by Los Angeles, was traded to the Islanders in June 1999, and has four goals, five assists and 50 penalty minutes in 74 career NHL games.
