AUBURN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of the man whose dead body was found on the Massachusetts Turnpike earlier this week.
A spokesman for the Worcester district attorney identified the man Friday as 22-year-old Johannes Songdahl III, of Norwell.
How he ended up on the highway remains under investigation.
The body was found on the westbound side of Interstate 90 in Auburn at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
There is no overpass nearby. Troopers did not locate any unattended vehicles in the area and there were no prior reports of pedestrians in the road.
The victim had suffered what were described as “severe injuries” and authorities could not immediately determine the victim’s gender.
The investigation caused massive traffic backups.
