Federal inmate charged with assaulting detention officer
GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A federal inmate being held at the Cascade County regional jail in Great Falls is charged with assaulting a detention officer over the weekend.
The Great Falls Tribune reports 30-year-old Kyle Kane Kicking Woman was charged Monday.
Sheriff Bob Edwards says the attack happened Saturday, hours before a riot, but that the assault did not cause the riot. Officers used pepper spray to break up the four-hour riot.
Prosecutors allege the officer was trying to break up a fight between two inmates when Kicking Woman tried to twist the officer’s head. Security footage shows Kicking Woman punching and wrestling with the officer.
Kicking Woman was being held for walking away from the Great Falls Prerelease Center in March. He had been serving a sentence for violating the terms of his release in an earlier burglary case.
