Mexico City man sentenced to 15 years in federal drug case
A Mexico City man was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison after his plea to drug charges, the U.S. attorney’s office said today.
Edgar Moreno-Ramirez, 27, pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and more than 1 kilogram of heroin, prosecutors said in a statement. He also possessed a firearm in furtherance of the drug-trafficking offense, the statement said.
It said Chief Judge Theresa L. Springmann sentenced Moreno-Ramirez to 181 months in prison.
According to court documents, prosecutors said, beginning Oct. 1, 2015, Moreno-Ramirez and his co-defendants were operating a drug distribution house while armed out of a Fort Wayne residence.
