ROBERT DE NIRO GOES AFTER DONALD TRUMP AGAIN

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump is out of the country for this week's summit with North Korea's leader. But the president definitely was in Robert De Niro's thoughts at the Tony Awards in New York last night. The actor continued his public dissing of Trump when he took the stage at Radio City Music Hall to introduce Bruce Springsteen. Twice, De Niro dropped an F-bomb, pairing it with Trump's name both times before raising both fists in the air in defiance. De Niro got a standing ovation for his rant, which included a call for people to vote against Trump policies and supporters during the midterm elections.

ROBERT DE NIRO APOLOGIZES TO CANADA FOR TRUMP'S 'IDIOTIC BEHAVIOR'

TORONTO (AP) — Robert De Niro is apologizing to Canadians for the "idiotic behavior of my president." President Trump called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "dishonest" and "weak" following the G-7 summit on Saturday, and his advisers amplified the harangue Sunday, branding Trudeau a back-stabber. At an event in Toronto today, De Niro called Trump's remarks a "disgrace." The apology followed De Niro's expletive-laden rant about Trump at the Tony awards last night.

ROBERT DE NIRO'S ANTI-TRUMP COMMENT GETS SUPPORT FROM PLAYWRIGHT

NEW YORK (AP) — It didn't take long for some in the Broadway community to respond to Robert De Niro's profane blast at President Donald Trump. As the actor's rant wound down, those involved in "Angels in America" were in the press room and were told the comments by reporters. Playwright Tony Kushner repeated De Niro's comment about Trump, F-bomb and all. He added, "it's Robert De Niro. Who's gonna argue with him?" Kushner doubled-down on De Niro's insult with one of his own, calling Trump's presidency "the Hitler mistake" that put what Kushner calls a "borderline psychotic narcissist in the White House."

TONY AWARDS - "THE BAND'S VISIT" DOMINATES

NEW YORK (AP) — The producer of "The Band's Visit" says the musical offers a message of unity in a world that "more and more seems bent on amplifying our differences." Orin Wolf commented after the show won best new musical at the Tony Awards. The show is based on a 2007 Israeli film about an Egyptian police orchestra booked to play a concert in an Israeli city — only to end up in the wrong town. The Band's Visit won 10 Tonys, including best musical. Tony Shalhoub won for best leading man for his work on the show and co-star Katrina Lenk won best actress in a musical. She says the show "filled her stupid little heart with so much joy."

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - TONYS

NEW YORK (AP) — Robert De Niro may have captured the headlines with his F-bomb barrage on President Donald Trump. But it didn't stop Bruce Springsteen from enjoying a special moment at the Tony Awards last night. After De Niro used his political tirade to praise the singer for his activism, Springsteen sat at a piano for a moving performance of "My Hometown." The Boss was cited for a special honor because of his "Springsteen on Broadway" show.

MINDY KALING - PRESIDENT TRUMP

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Mindy Kaling was at Dartmouth College yesterday to give the commencement address. She also took a couple of comedic shots at President Trump. The actress joked Trump may have "tweeted us into war" with Wakanda, the make-believe country in "Black Panther." She also said she and Trump have something in common: "delusion." She said Trump is a testament to how far a person can go just by believing they're the smartest most successful person in the world. Kaling urged the Dartmouth grads to have the same "insane confidence" in themselves. Kaling graduated from Dartmouth in 2001 and got an honorary degree at yesterday's ceremony.

SUMMER JAM

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Meek Mill was one of the featured performers at last night's 25th annual Summer Jam. The rapper did his first show since he was freed from prison in April. Joining Mill at the event in East Rutherford, New Jersey was recent Pulitzer Prize winner Kendrick Lamar, who performed hits like 'Humble" and "Don't Kill Me Vibe." Another highlight: a musical battle between producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. They showed off some of the hits they've done for others, including Missy Elliott's "Work It" and Beyoncé's "Drunk In Love."

BOX OFFICE

NEW YORK (AP) — A rising tide of woman power helped sweep a new movie into the top spot on the box office list. "Ocean's 8" wins the number one slot, taking in $41.5 million in its opening weekend. This time the franchise is rebooted with women like Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling and Rihanna in lead roles. The rise of Ocean's 8 punctuates the continued struggles of the latest "Star Wars" movie. "Solo" drops to number two, after a pair of lackluster weeks at number one.
