Ballerina Drops Assault Charge Against Ballet Master Husband
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) _ Ballet master Peter Martins and his wife, ballerina Darci Kistler, walked arm-in-arm out of a courthouse after she dropped assault charges against him.
The third-degree assault charge, lodged against Martins Sunday after a fight with his wife, was withdrawn Wednesday.
Martins, 45, head of the New York City Ballet, and Kistler, 28, one of the company’s principal dancers, then walked arm-in-arm out of Saratoga Springs City Court and headed back to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the ballet company’s summer home.
Martins was originally scheduled to reappear in court July 28.
In a statement released later, the pair said the incident was a private matter. ″Reports of what happened seem very disproportionate to what actually occurred between us,″ it said.
