KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Police say a collision at a central Kansas City intersection led to two vehicles crashing into an occupied apartment building.

The Kansas City Star reports that the crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday just west of the Kansas City Convention Center.

Investigators say a westbound Corvette and a northbound car collided in the intersection, and the impact sent both vehicles slamming into the apartment on the northwest corner.

Two people who were in the Corvette were taken by private vehicle to an area hospital, and police say one was in critical condition. Police say the driver of the other car fled the scene.

Police have not said whether anyone in the building was hurt or whether any arrests have been made in the case.
