Lady O to open state against Blair
A stellar regular season as the Beatrice softball team in the Class B State Tournament field.
Despite losing at districts last week, the Lady O (26-7) has earned earned a wildcard and will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament, which starts on Wednesday.
Beatrice will open against sixth-seeded Blair (16-12) at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Hastings.
With a win, they would play at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday against the winner of second-seeded Omaha Skutt (26-7) and seventh-seeded Omaha Gross (17-10).
With a loss, Beatrice would play at 9 a.m. on Thursday against the loser of Skutt/Gross.
On the other side of the Class B bracket, top-seeded Elkhorn (26-6) will play eighth-seeded North Platte (22-14) in the first round while fourth-seeded Crete (25-9) will play fifth-seeded Hastings (26-12)
Beatrice is 5-4 against the Class B State Tournament Field. They have two wins against Omaha Skutt as well as a win each again North Platte, Omaha Gross and Elkhorn.
The Lady O also has a loss against Skutt as well as two losses against Crete and a loss against Hastings.
The state tournament is slated to last through Friday with the championship game being played at 2 p.m. and an if necessary game slated for 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The tournament is double elimination.
