Police Identify Dismembered Body
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) _ The roommate of a man whose dismembered body was strewn in trash bins was arrested for investigation of murder after police found blood in their home, police said.
A fingerprint recovered from one of two fingers found floating in the Las Vegas sewage treatment plant was identified Saturday as that of Patrick Joseph Fogarty, 36, Lt. John Conner said Saturday.
Michael Harvey Yarbrough, 32, who lived with Fogarty, was arrested Friday and held without bail for investigation of murder after officers spotted blood stains in the dilapidated house they shared, Conner said.
″There are things that lead us to believe this may be the scene of the mutilations,″ Conner said. ″There’s evidence that somebody has been badly cut in that residence. There’s blood from one end to the other, lots of blood.″
Body parts - including a jawbone, a thigh, fingers, part of a scalp, a nose and genitals - were found at several locations Thursday. Investigators Friday found more remains and bloody sheetrock, a form of building material, near the house Yarbrough and Fogarty shared.
The parts found at the sewage plant were probably flushed down a toilet or put down a sink, officials said. Those discoveries followed the recovery of part of the victim’s thigh, which was found by people rummaging through a trash bin behind a blood bank.
