Clear Lake scored 21 fourth-quarter points to pull away from Dawson and take a 28-14 victory in a Class 6A Division II bi-district football game Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Falcons (7-4) will next take on Humble Summer Creek at noon Saturday in NRG Stadium in an area round matchup. Summer Creek defeated C.E. King, 29-28, in its bi-district matchup.

The Falcons trailed 14-7 until running back Brendan Holmes scored on a 36-yard run with 11:30 left in the fourth quarter, and Nathan Eastin kicked the second of his four extra points to tie the game at 14.

Holmes then scored again on a 22-yard run with 8:51 remaining to give Clear Lake the lead for good at 21-14.

The Falcons added an insurance touchdown with just 1:41 left when Adrian Cavazos scored on a 1-yard run.

Holmes rushed 27 times for 154 yards while Falcon quarterback Shae Suiaunoa completed 7 of 11 passes for 118 yards.

The Falcons took a 7-0 lead on a 10-yard run by Cavazos at 3:42 of the first quarter but Dawson (6-5) tied the game on Ja’Den Stewart’s 6-yard run with 3:32 left in the second quarter.

The Eagles then took their only lead of the game when Patrick Kramer threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Mason Pierce with 1:03 left in the third quarter.
