David ‘Paco’ Kohles, 44, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with The Rev. Brandon Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Riley Kohles Education Fund.

David “Paco” Kohles was born March 17, 1974, in Lincoln, to Larry and Alina (Vidal) Kohles. He attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Columbus High School in 1993. David continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and Southeast Community College in Lincoln. On May 1, 2004, David was united in marriage to Pam Jochens in Raymond.

Dave learned the construction business from his father, and operated Kohles Construction in Lincoln until his health limited him on what he could do. He enjoyed fishing and spending valuable time with his father. Dave’s great joy in life was his daughter Riley, and enjoyed going to her activities. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and telling stories.

Dave is survived by daughter, Riley Kohles of Columbus; sister, Ami (Mark) Backencamp of Lincoln; niece, MacKenzie Kohles of Lincoln; ex-wife, Pam (Dustin) Sutton of Columbus; stepbrothers, David (Amanda) VanAsperen of Martell, Steve (Jayne) VanAsperen of Kramer, Sam (Autumn) VanAsperen of Lincoln, and DJ VanAsperen of Lincoln; caregiver and friend, Lisa Jarosz of Columbus; aunts, Sherry (Bob) Ketner of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Mary (Steve) Mairose of Kimball, South Dakota, and Lisa (Michael) Brugh of Flagstaff, Arizona; uncles, Jerry Kohles of Norfolk, Roger (Evelyn) Kohles of Baytown, Texas, and Chuck (Krista) Kohles of Davey.

Dave was preceded in death by father, Larry Kohles; brother, Eric Kohles; stepmother, Carol Romans Kohles; grandparents, Dale and Loretta Kohles.
