E. Michigan 96, Kent 81
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) _ Earl Boykins scored 26 points and Theron Wilson had 19 points and 14 rebounds as Eastern Michigan jumped to a 15-point lead early and cruised to its eighth straight victory, a 96-81 win over Kent on Saturday.
The Eagles (15-1, 8-0 Mid-American Conference) outshot the Golden Flashes (9-7, 3-5) 53 percent to 43 percent, outrebounded them 44-30 and had a 23-12 advantage in free throws made.
Eastern jumped to a 19-4 lead in the opening 4:25 as Wilson, who also had five blocked shots, and Derrick Dial each had seven points during the spurt. Kent closed to 35-29 with 91 seconds left in the first half and trailed 39-31 at halftime.
But the Eagles used a 15-2 run in the second half to open a 75-49 lead when Nkechi Ezugwu converted on a three-point play. Kent used a 10-0 run to close the lead to 75-59, but never got closer than eight points.
Boykins scored 18 of his 26 points in the second half as he made 6 of 7 shots. Dial finished with 17 points and Torrey Mills had 11.
Ed Norvell led Kent with 24 points, D.J. Bosse had 20 points and six rebounds and Nate Reinking scored 15.
